Tickets for Caminito del Rey go on sale approximately four months in advance on the official website.
A few important things to know:
- General admission tickets (without a guided tour) sell out first.
- Weekends and dates in the spring and fall are especially popular.
- During peak season, tickets can sell out within days of going on sale.

How Long Does the Walk Take?
The Caminito del Rey hike itself takes about 2 hours, depending on your pace and how often you stop to take photos.
However, keep in mind:
- You need to arrive at least one hour before your appointment time.
- Parking, walking to the entrance, and taking the shuttle bus also take time.
- The entire tour usually takes about 3.5 to 4 hours from arrival to departure.
It’s a laid-back experience, but planning ahead makes it go smoothly and stress-free.
Parking Options Explained (North, South, and Visitor Center)
Caminito del Rey is a one-way trail that starts in the north (on the Ardales side) and ends in the south (on the El Chorro side). This is where parking can seem a bit confusing, but it’s actually simple once you understand the layout.
North Parking Lot – Ardales Entrance
- Ample parking available.
- You will need to take the shuttle bus back after finishing the walk.
- Shuttle bus tickets must be paid for in cash.
- Convenient if you'd like to start walking shortly after arriving.
South Parking Lot – El Chorro Entrance
- Located near the end of the walk.
- First, take the shuttle bus to the northern entrance.
- Once you've finished the walk, your car will be right there.
- You'll also need cash for the shuttle bus.
- Many visitors prefer this option for the convenience it offers in the end.
Visitor Center Parking Lot
- This is the official visitor parking area.
- Well organized and easy to access.
- From here, walk to the northern access tunnel.
- Clear signage and facilities are available.
- You still need to take the shuttle bus.
Practical Tips for a Smooth Visit
- Please arrive at least one hour before your scheduled time.-
- Bring cash for the shuttle bus ticket.
- Wear comfortable shoes; the walkway is safe but long.
- Bring water, especially during the warmer months.
- Please avoid bringing large backpacks (locker space is limited).
