How to Get Tickets for Caminito del Rey

Tickets for Caminito del Rey are released approximately four months in advance on the official website.

A few important things to know:

  • General entrance tickets (without a guided tour) sell out first.
  • Weekends and spring/autumn dates are especially popular.
  • In high season, tickets can sell out within days of being released.

How Long Does the Walk Take?

The Caminito del Rey walk itself takes around 2 hours, depending on your pace and how often you stop for photos.

However, keep in mind:

  • You need to arrive at least one hour before your timeslot.
  • Parking, walking to the entrance, and taking the shuttle bus also take time.
  • The total excursion usually takes around 3,5-4 hours from arrival to departure.

    It’s a relaxed experience, but planning ahead makes it smooth and stress-free.

    Parking Options Explained (North, South & Visitor Centre)

    Caminito del Rey is a one-way walk, starting in the north (Ardales side) and finishing in the south (El Chorro side). This is where parking can feel slightly confusing, but it’s actually simple once you understand the layout.

    Parking North – Ardales Entrance

    • Large parking area available.
    • You will need to take the shuttle bus back after finishing the walk.
    • Shuttle bus tickets must be paid in cash.
    • Convenient if you prefer to start walking soon after arrival.

    Parking South – El Chorro Entrance

    • Located near the end point of the walk.
    • You take the shuttle bus first to reach the northern entrance.
    • After finishing the walk, your car is right there.
    • Also requires cash for the shuttle bus.
    • Many visitors prefer this option for convenience at the end.

    Parking Centro de Visitantes

    • This is the official visitor parking area.
    • Well organised and easy to access.
    • From here, you walk to the northern access tunnel.
    • Clear signage and facilities available.
    • Still requires the shuttle bus.

    Practical Tips for a Smooth Visit

    • Arrive at least one hour before your time slot.-

    • Wear comfortable shoes, the walkway is safe but long.
    • Bring water, especially in warmer months.
